Amazing adventures and eats for everyone!
If you’ve been to Pike Place Market, we don’t need to tell you that it’s a great setting for a scavenger hunt. This venue has a dizzying array of offerings: Olympia oysters, flying fish, hot doughnuts, beaming sunflowers, Rainier cherries, Walla Walla onions, exotic cheeses, live musicians, dramatic views, and eclectic, eccentric stores. But even if you think you know the market, you’ll be surprised at all the places and sights you’ve never noticed when your team follows a trail of clues in search of answers to tricky, humorous questions.
Highlights of the hunt include a magic shop, a duck butt with a message, celebrity autographs, a Sleepless in Seattle location, curds (but not whey), Rachel the Pig’s less fortunate cousin, and actual frankincense and myrrh.
You might tackle such questions as…
- Find three stages of life. The wise guy who sees this apparently wasn’t good at predicting his own future happiness. How many times did he presumably experience the middle of those three stages? Answer: “Alexander, the Man Who Knows” married nine times, according to a sign below a giant poster that shows scenes of infancy, marriage, and death.
- In a store filled with odd antiques, what is the gypsy’s first prediction for you, and nearby, how old is the ugly creature that might stalk Little Red Diving Hood? Answer: Your lucky color, dispensed by a gypsy fortune-teller—and the wolf fish is 70 years old.
Keep in mind that we haven’t included directions or additional clues in these questions that help guide you to the right spot to uncover the answers. To triumph on this hunt, you just need to keep your eyes open, use your wits, and work with your team.
Find out why several groups from Microsoft have raved about this hunt. A Kids Edition is also available for ages 7 and up, in which adults and children work together to explore the market and answer the fun, funny questions.
If you think you might work up an appetite on this Seattle scavenger hunt, consider the Munch Around the Market Edition: your team’s challenges include choosing snacks to snag and tidbits to bite along the way.

Can you score as high as Jeff Bezos?
Yes, that Jeff Bezos. It was here, at the Seattle Art Museum, that the Amazon.com founder led his team to victory—and a perfect score. To do the same, you’ll have to follow a trail of clues through galleries of art from Africa, Asia, ancient cultures, Europe, the Pacific Northwest, and classic and modern America, in search of answers to fun, funny questions.
Along the way, you might discover…
- What happens when a pig, a crocodile, and an elephant walk into a bar
- The main ingredient in a bowl of not-so-grrrreat flakes
- Why agonized men and drunken old women are so popular
- A confused guy who wants to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth—but can’t
- Someone who seems to be using a toe as a Q-Tip
Those are just a few of the quirky highlights. But you don’t need to know anything about art or the museum to succeed—you just need a sharp mind and comfortable shoes.
A Kids Edition of this hunt, suitable for ages 7 and up, gets children and adults to work together for a fun-filled introduction to the world of art that will leave them eager to return to the museum.
This group game has been a hit with everyone from corporate groups looking for team-building activities to birthday-party revelers looking for a good time. Try it—and trust us, you’ll like it!

Pop goes the team-building game!
If a scavenger hunt steeped in pop culture sounds irresistible, then this is the hunt for you. The Museum of Pop Culture is a feast for the eyes and ears. Recent exhibits have featured cutting-edge art, props, and memorabilia from fantastical TV shows like Star Trek and Game of Thrones, revolutionary video games, guitars from legendary rockers, a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, and interactive exhibits on classic horror movies sure to tingle your spine.
Your team’s mission: follow clues, explore the galleries, and answer tricky, humorous questions about what you find.
You might tackle such questions as…
- What’s red and yellow and probably makes Who happy? Answer: The Fun Gun, from ‘Doctor Who.’
- Find the group that you might think was called in when Dumpty took a fall. According to the FBI, what did teenagers do to their single to hear obscenities? Answer: Play it at 33 rpm, according to an FBI report on the Kingsmen’s hit song “Louie, Louie.”
- At the end of the “Day,” what did the Fab Four call the crescendo? (But don’t let it disturb you.) Answer: The Beatles called the crescendo at the end of “A Day in the Life” a “freak out.”
Don’t worry if these seem mystifying: we’ve left out the clues that guide you to the right spot to find the answers. (No cheating!) No previous knowledge is necessary to play the game or even win. All the clues will be right before your eyes.
Younger audiences, ages 7 and up, can also get in the game on a special edition that provides an entertaining adventure for school field trips and birthday parties.

Fun games with humorous twists!
If you’re looking for a good, old-fashioned scavenger hunt, we have one—with very unusual challenges that will exercise your brain and tickle your funny bone. Your tasks may involve strange uses for food, new lyrics for old songs, people in any kind of uniform, strangers wearing valuable words, secrets about local landmarks, and more. If you’ve been on scavenger hunts where you’ve had to collect boring things like clothespins and obscure CDs, you’re in for a surprise and a treat.
Teams fan out to tackle such challenges as…
Take unusual team photos
Get creative and keep your eyes open as you explore your area and try to meet the requirements of diverse “photo op” challenges. Everyone has to get into the picture (except the person holding the camera, of course). We’ve designed them to allow room for creativity while also delivering dramatic visuals (not just shots of people standing around, smiling and pointing). You might be asked to demonstrate a group member’s superhuman powers. Or treat a staircase as if it’s a carnival ride. Or photobomb another team.
Participants use their smartphone cameras and our browser-based app. You’ll get to see the other players’ pictures and download them afterward.
Find or create unusual items
As in a classic scavenger hunt, you’ll have to locate or create unusual items. But in our version, you might encounter these tricky tests: Can you create and name an amazing new food by combining two unlikely foods? How about an appropriate trophy for the hunt winners? Three items that rhyme? Something improved by being broken? You’ll be surprised by the results that come from great teamwork.
Crack a code to decipher a mystery message
Your hunt materials will include a bizarrely coded message. What the heck does it say? To crack the code, you’ll need to solve crafty, fun puzzles, involving a trivia questions, pop music, and a “pigpen cipher.” Can you piece together the key that unlocks the mystery message?
Locate the Hunt Host for a surprise bonus challenge
At a designated spot in the hunt area, the Host will be waiting for you, ready to spring a tricky, humorous visual puzzle for you to ponder. It could involve unusual celebrity pairings…or musical snippets…or international maps…or strangely altered art.
