Nature gets wild at the Houston Museum of Natural Science

Take your group on an unusual adventure that uncovers the museum’s secrets, surprises, and treasures. Your team will follow a trail of clues through the galleries as you collaborate to answer fun and funny questions about what you find. You’ll see the best of such exhibits as the Hall of Paleontology—so vivid you might swear you feel the hot breath of a looming dinosaur—and the new Hall of the Americas.

But even if you don’t know a dino bone from a donut, you’ll enjoy this hunt. The emphasis is on teamwork and laughter. No previous knowledge about science or the museum is necessary to win: you just need a sharp mind, comfy shoes, and a sense of adventure.

You also might find out…

  • Why a pterosaur can’t wear a wedding ring
  • What kind of stink makes the blackest pottery
  • How a pig does cleanup work for a dirty job
  • Why a seal might cringe at a parka
  • The reason zebras should fear a condiment stand

Your team could track down answers to such questions as…

  • Find a large dinosaur. Another dinosaur gave this one a leg up. What “cousin” of a famous Hall did the donating dino come from? Answer: The Diplodocus’ thigh bone is from a Diplodocus at the Carnegie Museum (cousin of Carnegie Hall, as it were).
  • In Africa, what predator is most likely to “hail” a Chevy namesake that’s hanging around? Answer: A leopard on a branch is closest to an impala caught in the tree.

Couldn’t answer those questions? Don’t worry! They’re designed so you can answer them only when you are standing in the right spot in the museum, when all becomes clear.

What people are saying about the Houston Museum of Natural Science scavenger hunt

A 5-star review on Google: “Did a scavenger hunt at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for a team building event and it was a lot of fun. Eileen was our event coordinator leading up to the event and she did amazing job considering it was very last minute. Was able to get it booked and set up less than a week in advance. Our host Levon was really great and made the game even more enjoyable. Overall, our entire team of about 12 had great time. The hunt itself was well curated and led you all around the museum so you saw a bit of everything. We made it competitive but very fun. We plan to do another event with Watson Adventures in the future and would recommend to anyone.”

You can escape a room, but can you escape a vintage game store?

As part of his acclaimed new book, The Puzzler, best-selling author A.J. Jacobs (The Year of Living Biblically, The Year of Living Constitutionally) partnered with Watson Adventures to create a devilishly fun murder mystery game packed with puzzles. In his book he describes the experience of creating the game—now it’s your turn to play the game! But first…

Shocking news! The owner of a local board-game store has been murdered! Authorities are baffled by the mysterious killing, and they have called in you and your team of expert puzzle-solvers to crack the case.

The killer has hidden clues to their identity in games scattered around the store. It’s up to you to solve a series of puzzles and piece together the name of the murderer. Clearly the murderer loves to play games—but in a gaming store, that doesn’t narrow things down much!

On teams, you’ll tackle up to 10 mini-games that are inspired by classic games—but with humorous twists. Each challenge you solve will lead you a step closer to unmasking the murderer. Can your team unravel this mystery, catch the culprit, and show the villain that they toyed with the wrong people?
