The Murder at the Princeton Art Museum Scavenger Hunt

New Museum! New Mystery! New skullduggery!

Your team of clue-seeking detectives must find the answer on this whirlwind tour of the new Princeton Art Museum. At the start of the game, you’ll learn that the Watson Adventures staffer who was supposed to run your team-building scavenger has been found dead! The police need your help in discovering whodunit.

The victim also created the game you are about to play, and there’s reason to believe that he hid a secret message in the questions and answers. Can your team follow the trail of clues throughout the museum, answer the tricky questions, and tease out the details of the victim’s secret life—and perhaps his last message?

No knowledge of art is required: you just need sharp eyes and comfy shoes. This game is a test of teamwork, not trivia.

The Princeton University Art Museum is a great option for a hunt when the weather isn’t cooperating. It packs a lot of art and history into one floor of many galleries. The hunt will reveal the best, quirkiest, and coolest items in the collection as you go in search of answers to tricky, humorous questions.

Along the way, you might discover…

  • A work that will make you exclaim, “O!” at least twice
  • Someone who’d definitely have a hot hand in a game of poker
  • Aztec fashion that seems to say, “Hands off!”
  • A Renaissance saint who apparently thinks, “Man is a bubble”
  • Impressionist paintings that leave quite an impression

Other highlights include Roman and Greek gods, African ritual objects, Chinese and Indian Buddhas, works by Europe’s Old Masters, and Red Grooms’ amusing diorama re-creating a famous artist hangout in 1940s Greenwich Village.

The murder mystery game is a great activity for corporate outings, student and alumni gatherings, and anyone looking for team-building fun.

A Less Murder-y Option: The Art Museum Madness Scavenger Hunt

On this hunt you’ll see more of the museum, with more quirky questions, more humor, and no murder mystery. You’ll enjoy a whirlwind tour of the galleries, traveling across continents and centuries, and sharpening your teamwork skills along the way.

This hunt also comes in two versions:

• An International Edition for groups with players whose first language isn’t English.

• And a Kids Edition, in which kids (age 7 and up) and adults play together, making it a great activity for school field trips and camp outings.
