The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Madness Scavenger Hunt

Discover secrets and surprises in art…

…on a whirlwind tour that reveals the best of the museum. Your team will decipher tricky clues that guide you through the museum’s impressive galleries, in search of answers to fun, humorous questions about mummies, Old Masters, contemporary marvels, and more.

Your team might tackle such questions as…

  • What woman seems to be saying, “Leaf me alone!”? Answer: Daphne is turning into a tree while being pursued by Apollo.
  • Find someone who seems to tell her friend, “You’ll never get into the disco wearing those. They’re too short.” What surprisingly long item does she hold? Answer: A pipe, in ‘A Frankish Woman and Her Servant,’ where the women wear platform shoes.
  • Find what looks like the nudist colony from Hell (literally). What kind of “pantsed” professional is being welcomed to the club? Answer: In Hell, a soldier who has lost his breeches is clubbed by a demon in Cranach the Elder’s ‘The Last Judgment.’
  • Find a scene that might prompt you to say, “That’s quite a catch!” According to the label, what other menu option might be distracting the live creature? Answer: In ‘Still Life with Cat and Fish,’ a cat might be distracted by a mouse outside the picture.

Please note that we left out clues and directions in the questions above. The questions are designed so that you can find the answers only when you’re in the right spot and looking at the right thing. But no knowledge of art or the museum is required: you just need sharp eyes and comfy shoes.

If you’ve been searching for a fun and unusual team-building activity, your search is over. Everyone from corporate colleagues to birthday-party revelers have enjoyed and raved about our group games that get even the pickiest participants interacting, bonding, and laughing.
