Pop goes the team-building game!
If a scavenger hunt steeped in pop culture sounds irresistible, then this is the hunt for you. The Museum of Pop Culture is a feast for the eyes and ears. Recent exhibits have featured cutting-edge art, props, and memorabilia from fantastical TV shows like Star Trek and Game of Thrones, revolutionary video games, guitars from legendary rockers, a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, and interactive exhibits on classic horror movies sure to tingle your spine.
Your team’s mission: follow clues, explore the galleries, and answer tricky, humorous questions about what you find.
You might tackle such questions as…
- What’s red and yellow and probably makes Who happy? Answer: The Fun Gun, from ‘Doctor Who.’
- Find the group that you might think was called in when Dumpty took a fall. According to the FBI, what did teenagers do to their single to hear obscenities? Answer: Play it at 33 rpm, according to an FBI report on the Kingsmen’s hit song “Louie, Louie.”
- At the end of the “Day,” what did the Fab Four call the crescendo? (But don’t let it disturb you.) Answer: The Beatles called the crescendo at the end of “A Day in the Life” a “freak out.”
Don’t worry if these seem mystifying: we’ve left out the clues that guide you to the right spot to find the answers. (No cheating!) No previous knowledge is necessary to play the game or even win. All the clues will be right before your eyes.
Special Kids Edition for school groups: Younger audiences, ages 7 and up, can also get in the game on a special edition that provides an entertaining adventure for school field trips and other group outings.

A killer lurks among you…
…and this villainous virtuoso is set to knock your team-building trip out of tune at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP). Someone in your group, possibly on your own team, is tired of playing second fiddle and plans to make the fat lady sing—for all of you!
But as luck would have it, this game gives you a chance to prevent your own murder. Everyone in your group has been secretly poisoned, and the clock is ticking down on your time left to live. To save yourselves and get the antidote, you and your teammates must band together, complete various fun challenges, and reveal the killer’s identity.
The killer has hidden their identity in a scavenger hunt at the museum. Your team will solve a series of interlocking puzzles, decipher coded messages, and meet the conditions of creative, collaborative photo prompts.
Along the way, your team might…
- Act like alien lifeforms in Worlds of Science Fiction.
- Brave a dragon’s cave in Worlds of Myth and Magic.
- Tackle a trivia quiz about famous murder mysteries.
- Identify murderous movies and snippets of killer songs.
- Gather your Fellowship or follow the Yellow Brick Road.
- Pose for your album cover with a towering guitar tornado.
- Interrogate rock stars and famous horror-movie villains for clues.
If your group loves escape-room games, they’ll love this pop-culture museum scavenger hunt. The game will also help you entertain a diverse group of people while boosting morale and teamwork. It’s perfect for a private party or a corporate team-building outing of any size.
A Kids Field Trip Edition is also available, in which kids age 10 and up work with adults.
